Omer Day 20 יסוד שבתפארת Yesod SheBeTiferet

Foundation. Creation. Roots within Beauty. Heart. Compassion. Harmony. Balance.

Thursday, May 9

As I contemplate these words, I find myself latching onto Roots/Foundation within Harmony and Balance.  In what is your Balance Rooted? This question asks us to look at values, practices, whatever those things are that keep us Harmonized with ourselves and with the rest of Creation.

Tonight, I chose to keep a piece of information from my wife, because I did not want to needlessly worry her.  Honesty being a definite Foundation of my inner Harmony, this was very difficult. I was affirmed in my decision by a friend, whose judgement I REALLY trust. The funny thing is, she found out from another source anyway. Isn’t it just like that? Guess who’s NOT in charge.

In any case, there was something reassuring about my level of discomfort with a deliberate decision to be dishonest. It shows me my Roots are strong. It also reminds me the extent to which my Balance is contingent upon staying Rooted in my values. In this case, I placed the value of wanting to do no harm before full-disclosure-style honesty, and it was still uncomfortable. Strong as I am in many ways, I do have a delicate side. I seem to wear my nervous system on the outside of my body at times.

I am grateful to have many ways of staying Rooted. I have a strong Foundation in my Heart that keeps me in the flow of Beauty in the world, for the most part.

What Roots you in your Harmony? What is the Foundation of the Beauty in your Heart? Take some time to appreciate those things about yourself today. Dig deep.
